FAQs for Individual Learners

Explore our frequently asked questions for individual learners below.

1. What is the relationship between Medecs Learning and The Academy?

The Academy is owned and operated by Medecs Learning, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45695) and NDIS-registered provider that has delivered complex healthcare training across Australia for over 13 years. Our clinical team of Registered Nurses train more than 8,000 support workers and work with 350+ service providers, schools and childcare centres each year.

The Academy was created to make this clinical training more accessible online—particularly for providers and support workers in rural and remote areas—helping them deliver safe, high-quality supports to people with complex healthcare needs.

2. Why focus on complex healthcare training?

Supporting adult and young people with complex healthcare needs is one of the fastest-growing challenges in the disability and aged care sectors. Many support workers are expected to perform clinical tasks without appropriate training, which can lead to high safety risks and non-compliance with national standards.

Our courses build essential knowledge and confidence to perform these tasks safely and in alignment with the NDIS Practice Standards and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.

3. Are Academy courses nationally accredited?

No. While Medecs Learning delivers accredited units through other programs, there are currently no nationally accredited units that cover the advanced complex healthcare topics offered through The Academy.Importantly, our courses are clinically developed, standards-aligned, and person-centred, ensuring that what you learn meets the practical and regulatory expectations of the NDIS and aged care sectors.Upon completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion suitable for compliance and professional development evidence.

4. Why are your courses compliant but not accredited?

Our courses are developed and mapped by our Registered Nurse education team to the relevant NDIS High Intensity Skills Descriptors, NDIS Practice Standards, and Aged Care Quality Standards.

This ensures that our training meets the same compliance expectations required of service providers—standards that the formal vocational training framework does not address.

5. What are nurse-led video demonstrations, and why are they important?

This feature is unique to The Academy. Each course includes video learning where Registered Nurses demonstrate complex healthcare tasks in simulated practice environments.

You can revisit these videos anytime during your 12 months of course access, ideal for refresher training or reviewing techniques when uncertain. This nurse-led visual learning supports both understanding and skill retention.

6. How long do I have to complete a course once enrolled?

You have 12 months’ access from your enrolment date to complete your course—allowing you to learn at your own pace and revisit material as needed.

7. Can I complete my training on a mobile or tablet?

Yes. All Academy courses are mobile-friendly. You can complete lessons, watch videos, and access assessments on your phone, tablet, or desktop—anytime, anywhere.

8. What support is available if I need help during my course?

You can reach us with the contact link through your learner dashboard or home page for both technical and content-related questions.

9. How do I access my certificate once I finish?

Upon completing all course modules and assessments, your Certificate of Completion will be automatically available for download via your learner dashboard. You can save, print, or share it directly with your employer.

10. Do you offer face-to-face training?

The Academy delivers courses fully online for accessibility and convenience.

However, Medecs Learning also provides face-to-face and virtual clinical training through our three training centres in Tasmania, and we can arrange virtual sessions for interstate service provider organisations upon request.

11. Why should I choose The Academy?

Our courses are developed and delivered by Registered Nurses and clinical educators with real-world experience.

Through practical, demonstration-based learning, you’ll build confidence and competence in high-skill areas—making you more employable, trusted, and effective in supporting people with complex healthcare needs.
